My 17 week old english bulldog was taken into Animal emergency referral center on january 22nd 2011. She was bloated badly and after xrays it was known that her stomach was displaced. The doctor immediatly said that they needed to operate.That it was absolutely necessary that she got surgery. We waited to see how her condition was either going to improve or get worse before making any decisions on the surgery. The doctors brought out an estimate for 5500 dollars. Right off the bat I knew that this wasn't right. I deliberated with he doctor and they lowered the price to 2739. they brought this estimate out and again tried to get me to sign it. I refused and she said "well, how much do you have to spend." I was very leery that they kept trying to get me to sign an estimate and how pestering they were about get me to agree with the cost. Eventually we took her home against their orders and she was fine the next day. We took her only to that place because our doctor was not open at the time considering it was late. As soon as our regular doctor opened we took her in and found out that she didnt need any surgery and that there is a way to fix this problem with an easy procedure. our doctor even said that he would have ever considered surgery and that this was a rare occasion. Oh and did I mention that the next day the doctor from animal emergency referral center called TWICE to tell us that we needed to bring her back. I have read similar stories online and there are alot of people that have had this same experience. I have no idea why there hasnt been any more complaints. Unless people honestly dont know any better and actually let these people charge them and then even finance them with a high interest!!! I didnt know this place was a loan place with some vets in the back as a front. This needs serious consideration
