Review 8/21/2011

After scanning through the majority of company reviews here on the list, I am pleased to know that I am not the only angry customer that has been done wrong by this company, and in knowing this, I will gladly state this:
Cryptic Studios is absolutely, with 150% certainty, the WORST gaming company I have ever had the misfortune of encountering in my 13+ years of online gaming.
Putting aside the fact that their "games" are shabby, half baked, and boring (which in itself would be subject enough for the entirety of this review), the company has a terrible customer support system, uncaring and unforgiving forum moderation teams, and developer crews (most notably Dan Stahl and his merry men in green tights at Star Trek Online) that have a naive and unprofessional outlook on proper business etiquette that is on par with a cocky college graduate and his team of video game developer newbies.
Most of my venom is directed at the folks who run Star Trek Online, and I weep over the fact that one of America's most legendary and greatest sci-fi IP's ever in history was picked up by a novice gaming company who's terrible customer service, shabby development, and uncaring employees for the health of their customer base absolutely ranks them about a 9.0 on my "bad gaming company" meter.
Early last year, when Star Trek Online was scheduled for its initial launch, I supported Cryptic Studios with forum defense, word-of-mouth advertisement, and perhaps most importantly...MONEY. I forked over two hundred dollars for a lifetime subscription. In short, I was a die-hard supporter, mostly because I was and still am a huge Star Trek fan. My hate for the company began in the middle of last year (about five or six months after launch) when my forum opinions and criticisms (all falling in place with forum policy mind you) began to get attacked by Shaun Brody (aka. StormShade) and Gesine Fischer (aka. WishStone) just because they didn't like or agree with what I said. Long story short, just a few months ago they decided to ban my forum account after half a year of battling, and when I asked why, they twisted forum policy to justify their cruel and immature actions. Triple A company? I don't think so. And since there is no number to call to voice feedback (seems convenient doesn't?) and all we have are support tickets to file, nothing can ever be said and nothing gets placed on a personal level. Tickets go unanswered for weeks. Problems never get resolved...while meanwhile, Cryptic Studios continues on patting themselves on the back like nothing is wrong with their professional standings.
Nickel's worth of free advise? DO NOT trust this company. Its a warning to all who are interested in doing business with them. They don't care about treating their paying customers right, despite their claims. All they care about is the green, and once they get it...they could care less about you.
