Money hungry company that doesn't care about customers. Star Trek Online was released too early, the developers readily admitted this. Latest scheme is to release pre-order, collector's edition, and lifetime subscription "exclusive", "unique", bonus items to the general player base. The game has only been live for a few months and is incomplete. Almost every other gaming company waits at least a year before releasing exclusive, unique bonus items.
One developer commented in an interview that the exclusive items were enticements to get people to spend lots of money up front on lifetime subs and collector's editions so Cryptic could get seed capital to develop the game while it went live. Customer service is non-existent. Call them and you get their answering machine, email them and you get automated replies that are followed by replies a week later that you solved your own complaint/issue. There is really nothing good to say about this company.
Worst computer software/gaming company I've ever dealt with and I have been dealing with them since 1991.
This is a very shady operation and in my opinion someone needs to file a class action lawsuit against them because they are hosing their customers on a regular basis.
