My wife and I joined Goldrush Getaways 6 years ago and have been reasonably pleased with our purchase. We both attended several classes initially and felt that we got very good training. We also went to a few vendor sessions that were good. My wife decided not to actually work as a travel agent but I have done some limited work over the years. I have booked a few cruises and some international travel. The income that I received has far exceeded the amount that we paid to Goldrush. We have also used the Condo program and found that it was reasonably priced ($700 for a very nice 2br. condo in Las Vegas during Christmas week). We have not yet used the "hot weeks", but I am confident that they would work out fine. Hot Weeks are typical promotions for all condo time shares.
A while back there were changes to the requirements to be a licensed CLIA travel agent and I have therefor not renewed my CLIA license. I can however still book travel for myself and others and earn commissions. Just can't get the discounts for cruises that I once received (1/3'd discount). This was a change by CLIA not Goldrush. I receive 60% of the commissions earned on anything that I book (typically cruises, hotels and tours). The work required is minimal and Goldrush has been helpful when I requested assistance.
If you don't want to go to the trouble to get your CLIA card and don't plan on booking travel for others I wouldn't recommend that you buy a Goldrush membership. But, if you would like to learn to be a travel agent this is not a bad deal. I would also suggest that you talk to other similar companies who offer a Home Based Agent program and then make your mind up as to who to go with.
