Review 9/10/2010
Frank Younis is the owner, manager, business partner of this Union 76 service station in villa park. Frank is also owner of Rosecrans Auto Sales of Orange and Villa Park, CA. We purchased a car from this 76 station that had a problem with overheating shortly after we took possession. We were told when we bought the car there was a relay necessary to use the A/C and not to use the A/C until he replaced it -so we did NOT use the A/C. The car began to overheat and we took it back the same night by tow truck. They worked on it the next day but still did not completely resolve the problem with the car overheating while the A/C was on, even after he replaced the relay and other components. After replacing some engine cooling related items at his own cost, he wanted to cancel the purchase and said he was losing money on the car. My son signed the purchase agreement, and I said it was up to my son, not me. He likes the car but is heartbroken that it has the problem and he didn't want to cancel the purchase because he trusted that frank had resolved it even though we found shortly after it was not resolved after-all. It is basically not able to be safely driven at this point.

Frank told us "the sale is final...". -and- "...do not bother me anymore".

As soon as this is resolved I will update this review and tell you if I have a positive resolution and can recommend Frank who is at first personable and seems to be an OK guy except for this circumstance.

UPDATE-1:
today frank called me to bring in the car for him to have it looked at by his mechanic, who is very competent and meticulous about his work. (you can just tell these things sometimes). This may be an elusive problem for them if they don't drive it around like a normal car/person where you run errands, start and stop alot, turn the car on and off etc.

So it seems that maybe it is the head gasket and frank is going to replace it and stand by his cars! GOOD news for you all really. It will be a few days and so I will keep you posted.

UPDATE-2
So it has been somewhat less than a day since we had the car back and it has not overheated again, although it is STILL LEAKING coolant. Another mechanic looked at it for us and was concerned about the fresh coolant found leaking down the engine. He was also concerned about a major oil leak, and a transmission/differential leak and a few other things like motor mounts causing vibration and CV boots being cracked and leaking. Also he didn't know how well the head gasket was done and whether or not the head was done too, or even if the head was checked for level and machined, things that, considering the amount of work to do the gasket, are good ideas to do at the same time. I also do not know if this was done. We are most concerned about the LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT causing another overheating event.

So please take any car from here to your own mechanic and have it checked and remember what we forgot, buyer beware.
