Review 12/6/2010

I just bought a new external hard drive yesterday at Costco. I figured $99 for a 2 TB hard drive is not a bad price. When I get home and I plug it in, I am expecting it to work properly but no, I get an error stating F:/ Application not found.
My first thought is user error. So i unplug it and plug it back in and I get the same error. My next thought is to check Seagate's website for support. All I have to say about their support site is that it's messy, very, very messy. I did a search and of course nothing in my search came up. I can't contact customer service or tech support because they are closed for the weekend. So I figured let's send them an email.
Today is Monday, December 6, 2010 and I got a respond stating that my USB connection is faulty and that if I move the connection from the front of the computer to the back it would solve my problem. I guess the representative who read my case didn't realize that I have a laptop. So I figured that I try their chat service. Another mistake, 3 reps later and 45 minutes of wasted time I still don't have a resolution to my problem.
But a co-worker of mine did offer me a reasonable resolution, return the hard drive and go with a different company. I am so very disappointed with Seagate since I have 3 external hard drives of their and I have never had any issues and now that i do have a problem their customer services sucks, their tech support doesn't seem to know how to resolve an issue and on top of everything, Seagate's reps are rude. They didn't ask me to try something they told me that I needed to format my hard drive in order for it to work and then I needed to download some files from their website.
Mind you, my original question is still not answered. I am beyond disappointed and probably would just take my business somewhere else. I guess the saying is true, you get what you pay for.
