My experience comes from the online purchase of a Dell power supply.
The website displayed a description of the part I ordered and since there was no mention of the part being refurbished, used, or in "pulled as is" condition I assumed that it would be new. After I received the part I clearly realized that this was a used part pulled from an old system and not tested by anyone. My reason for ordering was to replace a noisy fan on the power supply of another system. The power supply I received had a fan that was even more noisy than the one I was replacing.
I called Softarcade only to be told that in order to exchange the item I would have to pay shipping not only back to them but to also send additional funds so they could ship it back to me when they received the replacement unit. They rudely told me that "We are not a shipping company" and that there is no guarantee as to the relative condition of the part received due it being refurbished by the manufacturer and not by them. I explained that the part was not refurbished as that would imply that someone actually did something to it and clearly this part was just pulled from an old system without any verification that it was in proper working order.
The rep at Softarcade re-iterated to me that they would be happy to exchange it with the Dell but I would be responsible for all shipping expenses. I told the rep that the website's description made no clear mention of the condition of the part new, used, refurbished or otherwise so I assumed it was new. All he could say is that the website does say that the part was refurbished but did not care to comment that this fact was buried under many layers of links that were no where near the description of any of their parts. DECEPTIVE,DECEPTIVE !
I investigated their website in more detail and found a tiny link at the very bottom of the page(not in plain sight) to their terms and refund policies where it explains that everything on their website is refurbished unless it indicates NEW and that all RMA shipping expenses are my responsibility.
Well, be that as it may, this is still in my view a very deceptive business practice and not in good taste, especially in times like these where customer service should be paramount to any business model.
I will never do business here again and suggest buyer beware when dealing with this company.
I give a big fat "F" to this farse of a business.
